Article summary

If you are having trouble connecting your camera or getting error message "No connection with your camera," here are some things that you can try to do.

Check if the camera is switched on

  • To check if your camera is switched on, take a look at the power button on the side of your camera; it should light up. For Ricoh cameras, the LED display will also light up if the camera is on.
  • Visit Ricoh Theta or MadVenture/MiSphere pages for more details about your camera.

Check the battery of your camera

  • Sometimes low battery status on the camera affects connectivity as well. Make sure your camera is charged.
  • To check your camera's battery level, take a look at your camera's display; it will show you if the battery is low.
  • If your camera is switched on and charged but you still cannot connect it, see the information below for other things you can try.

Check the distance to your camera

  • Distance between the camera and device is important for the successful connection process.
  • The camera's maximum effective range is at 5-6 feet.

Check if you have keyed the correct Wi-Fi password

  • Make sure to key in the correct camera password:
    • For Ricoh Theta Cameras, the passwords are always the numbers on the Wi-Fi name or the bottom of the camera.
    • For MadVenture/MiSphere cameras, the passwords are mainly default -12345678
  • Note:
    • You only key in the 8 numbers and no letters as your Wi-Fi password.
    • Different cameras will have different numeric codes so your Wi-Fi password code may be different for each camera you use.

Сheck camera's firmware

Sometimes cameras don't connect due to issues with their firmware. Try updating your camera's firmware to its latest version. To learn how to update your firmware read the instructions below:

Alternatively:
1. You can install the Ricoh Theta app on your device.
