Proper tripod set-up to ensure success
It is imperative that the height of your DocuSketch camera is 5’3" from the center of the front lens to the floor. This consistent height ensures accurate documentation, measurements and sketches. Ensure this by setting your tripod up correctly every single time.
Start by fully extending and locking each section of the tripod:
Ensure the legs of the tripod are locked in place by lining up the arrows and tightening the cam:
Finally, attach your camera to the top of the tripod being careful not to over-tighten:
The LED lamp
Sufficient light is integral to obtaining the quality photos needed for your tour and, ultimately, your sketch:
- Be sure to turn on available light sources.
- If there is no power, the yellow LED lamp in the hardware kit will help. This lamp is surprisingly bright with three brightness levels.
- Use the lamp by hand to flash light toward the area where the photo is to be taken.
- You can also use the hook that extends from the top of the lamp to attach it to your tripod under the camera, as indicated in the photo below:
- There is also a magnet on the back of the light. Use this to attach the light to a metal object, such as a metal clipboard.
- The light can also be used as a portable power bank. Use the pairing cord in your kit to plug your mobile device or DocuSketch camera into the LED lamp to get some additional charge. You can expect 3-4 hours of shooting on a full camera charge.
