DS1 Camera: Default Settings Checklist (Before Shooting)

This guide will show you how to set your DS1 camera to Photo mode and confirm the 18 MP resolution before taking photos. These settings help ensure clear, usable images and prevent issues such as image stitching errors in the photo preview.

Switching the Camera to Photo Mode (Using the Camera’s Screen)

Step 1: Power On the DS1 Camera

• Press and hold the Power button on the side of the camera until the screen turns on.

Step 2: Access Shooting Modes

• On the touchscreen, swipe left or right to cycle through the available shooting modes.

• The current mode is shown near the bottom of the screen.

1. Set Auto Sleep and Auto Power Off Timer to Maximum

If Auto Sleep or Auto Power Off timer is set too low, the camera may turn off while you are using it, uploading files, or connected to a computer.

How to set it

1. Power on the camera.

2. Swipe down on the touchscreen to open the Quick Menu.

3. Tap the Settings (⚙) icon.

4. Set Auto Sleep to 3 minutes.

5. Set Auto Power Off to 15 minutes.

2. Set Wi-Fi Settings to Always On

Keeping Wi-Fi set to Always On ensures a stable connection to the app and prevents disconnects during setup or file transfers.

2. Tap Wi-Fi Settings.

3. Set Wi-Fi Mode to Always On.

Wi-Fi will stay active even when the camera is idle.

3. Confirm the Latest Firmware Is Installed

Why this matters
Using the latest firmware helps avoid known bugs, compatibility issues, and unexpected behavior.

How to check

1. Open Settings (⚙️).

2. Tap Camera Info.

3. Verify the Firmware Version is up to date.

If your firmware matches the latest version, no action is needed.

4. Set USB Mode to U-Disk (Disk Mode)

Why this matters
USB Mode controls how the camera connects to a computer. To access and transfer photo files, the camera must be set to U-Disk Mode.

How to set it

1. Open Settings (⚙).

2. Tap USB Mode.

3. Select U-Disk Mode.

4. Confirm the checkmark appears next to U-Disk Mode.

The camera will now be recognized as a storage device when connected to a computer.

Final Check Before Shooting

Before capturing photos, confirm the following:

• Photo mode is selected

• Resolution shows 18 MP

• Auto Sleep is set to Never

• Auto Power Off is set to Never

• Wi-Fi Mode is Always On

• Firmware is up to date
