Formatting your microSD card is the quickest way to clear storage and ensure your camera operates smoothly.

Important: Formatting permanently deletes all photos, videos, and files stored on the microSD card. Before proceeding, back up any media you wish to keep to your phone or computer.

Method 1: Format Directly on the Camera

This is the fastest method to clear space while out in the field.

  1. Power on your DS1 camera.

  2. Swipe down from the top of the touchscreen to open the Shortcut menu.

  3. Tap the Settings icon (gear symbol) in the bottom-right corner.

  4. Scroll down and select Camera Storage (or SD Card).

  5. Tap Format Storage and confirm when prompted.

    • Verification: A notification confirming format success will appear, and the screen will display maximum available recording capacity.

Method 2: Format via the Companion Mobile App

You can clear the camera's memory wirelessly through your mobile device.

  1. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone, then open the companion app to connect your DS1 camera.

  2. Tap the Settings icon in the app.

  3. Navigate to Other Settings > Camera Storage (or Camera capacity).

  4. Tap Format (or Format Storage) and confirm.

    • Verification: The camera capacity gauge in the app will refresh to display full available capacity.

Method 3: Format via Computer

Formatting through a computer is ideal if you are clearing space after transferring your media.

On Windows

  1. Turn off the DS1 camera and remove the microSD card (or plug the camera into your PC using a USB data cable).

  2. Open This PC or My Computer.

  3. Right-click the removable drive representing your microSD card and select Format.

  4. Set the File System to exFAT, leave other settings as default, and click Start.

    • Verification: A window will pop up stating "Format Complete," and the drive properties will show zero used space.

On macOS

  1. Turn off the DS1 camera and insert the microSD card into a card reader connected to your Mac (or connect the camera via USB).

  2. Open Disk Utility (via Finder > Applications > Utilities).

  3. Select your card under the External section in the left sidebar.

  4. Click Erase at the top of the window.

  5. Set the Format to ExFAT and click Erase to confirm.

    • Verification: Disk Utility will display a green checkmark indicating the process was completed successfully.
