Estimate Loss Types Overview

The following are the estimate loss types:

Water

The categories of water, as defined by IICRC S500, refer to the range of contamination in water, considering both its origin and its quality after it contacts materials present on the job site.

Water Estimates are written to comply with the standards set forth by IICRC, Carrier SLA Guidelines (if provided), Third Party Administrators (TPA) SLA Guidelines (if selected) and prescribed scope of work provided. All line items used are appropriate based on the category of loss selected unless otherwise noted in the scope of work.

Note: Only one water category can be assigned per estimate.  

CAT 1

Category 1 as defined in the IICRC S500 Standards: Water originates from a sanitary water source and does not pose substantial risk from dermal, ingestion, or inhalation exposure.

CAT 2

Category 2 as defined in the IICRC S500 Standards: Water contains significant contamination and has the potential to cause discomfort or sickness if contacted or consumed by humans.

Although Xactimate and Core Logic do not utilize Category 2 line items when this estimate type is selected, we take into consideration the standards set forth by IICRC, Carrier SLA Guidelines (if provided), Third Party Administrators (TPA) SLA Guidelines (if selected) and prescribed scope of work provided. The use of antimicrobials and all other line items deemed appropriate will be applied unless otherwise noted in the scope of work.

CAT 3

Category 3 as defined in the IICRC S500 Standards: Category 3 water is grossly contaminated and can contain pathogenic, toxigenic, or other harmful agents and can cause significant adverse reactions to humans if contacted or consumed.

When this estimate type is selected, we take into consideration the standards set forth by IICRC, Carrier SLA Guidelines (if provided), Third Party Administrators (TPA) SLA Guidelines (if selected) and prescribed scope of work provided. The use of antimicrobials and all other line items such as CAT3, HMR and PPE (Safety Protocols) and CON (Content Manipulation) that are deemed appropriate will be applied unless otherwise noted in the scope of work.

Fire

All Fire estimates are written per scope of work provided by you. All fire estimates will use appropriate line items including, but not limited to DMO, HMR, LAB, WRT (CAT3), CON PPE, CLN.

When selecting a Fire estimate please refrain from selecting WATER CAT3 to indicate the use of CAT3 line items in the fire estimate unless you are requesting a separate Water CAT3 estimate dedicated to a Water CAT3 Loss to accompany the fire loss. Please be assured if CAT3 codes are required in a fire estimate and they will be utilized.

Content Manipulation line items such as CON LAB/CON ROOM will be included in the fire estimate. Please refrain from selecting these options under the Contents Estimate Type (Onsite Cleaning), (Pack Out, Pack Back), Pack Out, Cleaning, Pack Back) and (Pack Out) for this purpose. These selections will return as a separate estimate, and you will be charged accordingly.

Trauma

A trauma property loss refers to a significant and emotionally distressing loss of personal property or damage to structure due to a sudden, unexpected, or violent event. There is often a biological component to losses of this type.

Environmental

An environmental property loss refers to damage or destruction of real estate or personal property caused by environmental contamination, such as chemical spills, air pollution, water pollution, or hazardous waste, which can lead to cleanup costs.

Vehicle Impact

A vehicle impact property loss describes the damage caused to physical property as a direct result of a collision or impact with another object. Vehicle impact damage can cause unique repair challenges to affected structures.

Other

Other is for losses that don't fit into the listed categories, capturing unique or uncommon scenarios.
