Here are some tips on positioning your camera and tripod for best results:
- If you have an empty room where all the corners of the room are visible, just place the camera and tripod in the middle of the room and it will do its job.
- If you are using time shift mode, do not move the camera between shots:
- This will cause “tearing” in the photos. Just allow the camera to complete its process.

- Never place the camera on an elevated surface. Keep the tripod on the floor. It may be necessary to clear a spot for it.
- The sketch and measurements will reflect only what the camera sees:
- The camera needs to see all of the room corners. Ceiling corners work!
- You may need to reposition the camera and tripod in order to see all room corners for "L" shaped rooms or rooms with large furniture items that block the view.
- This may be the time to use the "Add Shot” feature in the DocuSketch app.
- Do this as many times as necessary to see all the room corners.
- Also, get an additional shot approximately every 100 square feet of room space.
- The number of shots taken of a room will depend on the contents and layout of the room.
- The DocuSketch tool can only see, sketch and measure the parts of the room the camera can see.
- It is also important that the camera sees all windows, doors, and other openings.
